Richard L. Griffith, M.D., Ph.D., Dr Griffith was born in Melrose, Massachusetts and was raised in western Pennsylvania. He attended The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology. After college, Dr. Griffith became a research associate in the laboratory of viral immuno-regulation at the National Cancer Institute laboratories in Frederick, Maryland. Dr. Griffith was accepted into the Medical Scientist Training Program at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. He obtained both the MD and PhD with his doctoral thesis in immunology exploring the mechanism of atherosclerosis through lipid modification and macrophage activation. He pursued his internship and residency training at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. Dr. Griffith returned to the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland where he became a medical staff fellow in the Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Afterwards, Dr. Griffith moved to Marietta to begin private practice.

Dr. Griffith is a member of the American Medical Association, Society for Innovative Medical Practice Design, American College of Physicians, and the Cobb County Medical Society. He is also a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Griffith is married and has two children.
